The Offord Centre for Child Studies recognizes donors in many ways. Your name may be listed (with your permission) in one of our publications, and you will be invited to special Offord Centre events and donor celebrations. Naming and special dedication opportunities are also available. Our Development staff would be pleased to discuss these and other opportunities with donors.
The Offord Centre for Child Studies is committed to protecting your personal privacy and ensuring that all on-line transactions and contributions occur through a safe, private, and secure system that protects the donor's personal information. All credit card information collected on-line is encrypted before being sent over the Internet to ensure the security of your information. Please be aware, however, that we have no control over the privacy of your e-mail communications with us. We recommend that you do not include confidential, proprietary or personal information in e-mails, including credit card numbers, passwords and other similar information. Also, if other people have access to your e-mail account, they may be able to access your password and obtain personal information about you (such as your credit card information).
All donations to the Offord Centre for Child Studies are tax deductible. Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation will issue income tax receipts for eligible donations. (Charitable Registration # 13115 9543 RR0001).
The Offord Centre for Child Studies is affiliated with the Hamilton Health Sciences network of community hospitals and research centres. The Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation is the charitable organization set up by this network to process donations to any of its individual hospitals and research units. Once processed, however, the funds are administered by the Offord Centre for Child Studies under the direct supervision of its Director and chief financial officer.
Many companies will match an employee’s charitable giving through corporate matching gifts programs. Please call your human resources department to find out if your employer has such a program and how you can increase the value of your gift to the Offord Centre for Child Studies.
We can help you plan now to make a gift in the future. There are many ways to do this:
Consider making the Offord Centre for Child Studies a beneficiary of your Will or Life Insurance Policy.
Instead of a cash gift, consider giving securities, stocks, bonds or mutual fund shares.
You can arrange a future gift of a portion of your retirement benefits (RRSP & RIFF).
For more information on supporting the Offord Centre through your Will, Life Insurance Policy or other planned gifts, please contact Jennifer Laughton, Executive Vice-President, Philanthropy, 905-521-2100, ext. 75977 or by email at .
Yes. Our development staff is available to work with you should you wish to dedicate your gift in support of a particular project or area of research interest. However, it should be noted that by leaving your gift “unrestricted”, we are in a better position to maximize its impact by directing it to an area of greatest need.
Your gift may be used to support one of a number of initiatives:
General Fund
Your gift will be used to support the most urgent needs of the Offord Centre for Child Studies.
Dan Offord Research Chair in Child Studies
Your gift will help to fund an endowed research chair, named for Dr. Dan Offord, founder of the Centre for Child Studies.
Research Fellowships
Your gift will provide the funding needed for early-career scientists to establish their independent research projects and to successfully obtain research grants to sustain future research on issues that have an impact on children’s mental health and development.
Public Education and Awareness
Your gifts will support the translation of important research findings into language that can be understood by everyone and that can be implemented in the community.
