
Dr. Nick Kates, L., bestows the honour of Professor Emeritus on Dr. Michael Boyle, long time researcher at, and former director of, the Offord Centre for Child Studies.
Dr. Michael Boyle, of the Offord Centre for Child Studies, has been honoured as Professor Emeritus at McMaster University’s Faculty of Health Sciences. He was recognized at a ceremony Dec. 6 at the University Club attended by his peers and Nick Kates, Chair, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences.
A less formal celebration was held Dec. 14 at the Offord Centre for Child Studies, where Dr. Boyle is a lead investigator on several research projects, including the landmark Ontario Child Health Study in 1983 and its 2014 data sequel, now in progress. Dr. Boyle is a former Director of the Offord Centre for Child Studies.
The 2014 Ontario Child Health Study examines the mental health and functioning of 10,530 children in families and neighbourhoods across Ontario. The 2014 Ontario Child Health Study School Mental Health Surveys are a component of the larger 2014 OCHS that will enlist schools across Ontario to study school-level influences on student mental health.
