Excellence. Collaboration. Community. Impact.

Welcome to the Offord Centre for Child Studies!

We are an interdisciplinary research centre affiliated with McMaster University, McMaster Children’s Hospital, and Hamilton Health Sciences.

The Offord Centre is home to 34 faculty and 75 staff researchers in fields such as psychiatry, pediatrics, nursing, social work, clinical epidemiology, and psychology. The centre also trains undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and other health/research professionals.

Through collaborative research and training, we aim to advance policy and practice for child and youth mental and neurodevelopmental health in Canada and beyond.

Dr. Stelios Georgiades

The past few years have been challenging. As a society, we are at a crossroads. Our children, youth, and their families need support; now more than ever. Our educators, clinicians and policymakers need up-to-date, high-quality evidence to inform their decisions. Our researchers are working hard to make a positive impact, but research is not useful when done in isolation. Our team is breaking down traditional silos by fostering meaningful collaborations and building strong partnerships with community and knowledge users in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and around the world.

On this website you will find information about our ongoing efforts to generate the essential data, research, and evidence that will lead to evidence-based policies and practices that foster optimal health for children, youth, and those who care for them.

Thank you for visiting and feel free to reach out to us with questions and ideas!

With best wishes,

Stelios Georgiades, PhD

Director, Offord Centre for Child Studies
