On Thursday March 3, Offord Centre core member, Harriet MacMillan, will be speaking about the prevention of child maltreatment during the Picturing Wellness: From Adversity to Resilience event at the Hamilton Convention Centre for healthcare and service providers working in Violence Prevention and Resilience Promotion.
Picturing Wellness is March 3-5 and will feature various speakers, including Christine Wekerle, Olaf Kraus de Camargo, and former-NHL player and child abuse advocate Sheldon Kennedy. The event will also feature the Picturing Wellness Exhibit Viewing at the McMaster Museum of Art at McMaster University.
By attending this activity, participants will be able to:
- Gain an understanding of conceptualizations of resilience in adverse contexts.
- Practice the application of resilience strategies relevant to professional roles & patient outcomes, such as visual thinking strategies, mindfulness, yoga, the use of social media.
- Gain state-of-the-art knowledge in social determinants of health, child maltreatment, sexual exploitation, sexual victimization of male youth, & male mental health.
